General FAQs I know that some Makeup Artists have images on their Websites they have bought, and they are not of work they have actually done themselves, are all the photos on your Website of work you have done? Yes absolutely!  All the pictures on my site are from my portfolio. What Makeup brands do you use? I use Makeup from all the top name Brands. I don’t feel that one House stocks the best of every product, and so I use what I feel are the best products from each Brand. Therefore, I use a variety of Brands including a professional Makeup Artist brand from the USA (not available to the public), MAC, Smashbox, Bobbi Brown, Napolean, Elizabeth Arden, Revlon, Estee Lauder etc. Do you have a Travel Fee? Travel within the general Auckland area is included in my prices. For travel outside these areas there is a small free to cover petrol costs and travel time. Wedding FAQs Do I need a Trial? You don’t have to have a Trial, however 99% of my Brides do, and I highly recommend it. The Trial is a great chance for us to not only meet each other before the big day, but a chance for me to hear about your Wedding. At the Trial I like to sit down and get to know you, and talk about every aspect of your Wedding to get an overall idea of the Style of your Wedding, so I can better understand you and your Fiancé’s vision for the big day. Every Bride is different and therefore your Hair and Makeup should reflect your individual personality and style. I like to recommend my Brides collect lots of pictures of Hair and Makeup they like, and then at the Trial we can go through them and design the best Style that not only suits your individual features, but your dress, and the overall theme of your wedding. When should I have my Trial? I would recommend you have your Trial about 2-3 months before your Wedding date. The month or so before your Wedding is usually a very busy time for you, and by having your Hair and Makeup confirmed it is one less thing you will need to do. I take bookings 7 days a week, so you can have your Trial either at night after work, or on a Saturday or Sunday, whenever it is convenient for you. I also suggest that its a great idea to have it on a day that you have a dress fitting, so you can see everything together, or alternatively you might like to do it on a night you have something special to go to and make the most of having your Hair and Makeup done! How long do Trials usually take, and is there a time limit? I usually suggest you allow 2 hours for a Hair and Makeup Trial, 1 hour for Makeup and 1 hour for Hair. No there is no time limit, we can take as long as you need to finalise your look. When should I wash my Hair? Depending on how frequently you wash your Hair, I suggest you wash it either the night before your Wedding, or if you usually wash it every 2 or more days, then the morning beforehand – providing you won’t be doing too much running around the day before. Your Hair should preferably not have any product in it, and be left to dry naturally, but be bone dry when I arrive. This applies to both the Trial and the Wedding day. Do you have a booking fee? I understand that planning and budgeting for a Wedding can be tricky and so I just ask for a small $100 deposit to secure your Wedding date, with the balance just due on the day. Do you work with an assistant for larger Weddings? I would like Hair and Makeup for my 3 Bridesmaids, my Mum, and my 2 Flower Girls, as well as for myself. Yes for larger Wedding parties I have another 1 or 2 (or as many as we need!) fully qualified Makeup and Hair Artists assist me. It is best that you are all ready as close to Wedding as possible, so once we have discussed your other plans for the day and your photographers requirements, I work out a schedule and email it to you for you to confirm, and that way you can let your Wedding party know exactly what time they will be beautified! On my Wedding day, what time should I have my Hair and Makeup done, and how long does it take? Your big day has finally arrived, and so you want to enjoy every minute! Therefore, I usually suggest you allow 2 hours for your Hair and Makeup, 1 hour for Hair which is done first and then 1 hour for Makeup which is done last. Other Wedding guests usually take 30-45 mins for Hair and the same for Makeup, depending on the styles they are having. Your Wedding party need to be ready just before you, so they can help you get into your dress and assist you with whatever you need, and your photographer may want to take photos of you doing the final touches during this time also. I usually suggest my Brides have their Hair and Makeup done 45 mins before they need to leave. This time allows for a final trip to the bathroom (don’t forget to clean your teeth for the big kiss girls!), getting into your dress, putting your veil on (which I can do), photos, any last minute jobs, a lipstick touch-up by me, and once you are all ready.... the all important glass of bubbles with your Wedding party and Family and a few minutes to relax and enjoy the moment! Do I need to buy a lipstick? No you do not need to buy a lipstick, I supply all my Brides with a complimentary test pot, and lipstick applicator, of the lipstick colour we have chosen for you, so you can touch up your lipstick yourself during the day. This also includes your Bridesmaids as well, or any other guests I do the Makeup for, they will all receive complimentary test pots of their individual colour. However, if you have a lipstick you would prefer to use, or would like to buy your own lipstick from a store, then that is no problem, and I will apply it for you.   I am getting married on Waiheke Island, what are your Travel fees for Waiheke weddings? Waiheke is a beautiful place to get married, in fact I got married there myself! I charge $100 Travel fees to Waiheke to cover my parking in Downtown Auckland for the day, a return ferry ticket, travel time on the ferry etc. It does not include transport to/from the ferry terminal to the venue (you can arrange for someone to pick up, or taxi)  I am fortunate to have the use of accommodation on Waiheke and so if you need to have an early morning start I can stay the night before at no extra charge to you.
